Due to be released in August and based on a true story, The Express is about the extraordinary life of college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. His fight for equality and respect changed the face of American sports forever, and his story continues to inspire.

Born in poverty in coal-mining country, Davis overcame social and economic obstacles to become one of the greatest running backs in college football history. Under the watch of legendary Syracuse coach Ben Schwartzwalder (played by Dennis Quaid), he became a hero who beat Jim Brown’s achievements and set records that stand to this day.

The Greatest Game Ever Played
A faithful adaptation of the book that plays well on the big screen. It’s the original David and Goliath sports story.

Tin Cup
This Kevin Costner vehicle strikes the perfect pitch. It also helps that Costner can actually play.

Dead Solid Perfect
This movie starring Randy Quaid is all about life on the pro tours. It’s based on the book of the same name by Dan Jenkins.

Happy Gilmore
Whether or not you’re a fan of Adam Sandler, you’ll enjoy this hilarious movie about a hockey player whose slapshot produces insane drives.

Follow the Sun
Glenn Ford stars in the life story of Ben Hogan. If you’ve seen 1950s biopics of athletes, you know how cheesy they can be. This one is better than most, and Hogan’s story is an amazing one.

Caddyshack
Ok. It’s a comedy classic, but I can’t rank it any higher as a golf movie.. Watching it as an adult, it doesn’t seem as funny as it once did. But hey, Most golfers completely disagree, so here it is.

The Legend of Bagger Vance
Based on the bestselling book. I didn’t really like this movie after the first couple of viewings but Will Smith and Matt Damon are charismatic enough.

Bobby Jones - Stroke of Genius
The life story of Bobby Jones stars Jim Caviezel. A bit overwrought, and Caviezel doesn’t replicate Jones’ swing very well but he does a good job of portraying the stress that Jones went through in playing in golf championships.

Pat and Mike
A Spencer Tracy - Katharine Hepburn classic. Hepburn plays a championship woman golfer. The movie is basically another of their man vs woman screwball comedies.

Jesus, just kiss already you two!

Patrick Swayze is ready suit up in his swimming trunks again - he will reprise his surfboarding gang boss role, Bodie, in a Point Break sequel. The 1991 thriller also starred Keanu Reeves, but it’s doubtful Keanu will appear in the follow up. The new movie–which will follow an ex-professional surfer sent to track down a criminal gang–will be set in south east Asia, and will be directed by the writer of the original film, Peter Iliff.

He tells Moviehole.com, “I would like to return to Point Break because it represents my career coming full circle. The original was the first movie I ever wrote, the sequel would be my first ever directorial effort.”

I kinda loved Point Break ( I was the right age) so this is kind of a funny thought for me. I can see it going straight to DVD unfortunately. Not to mention, Patrick Swayze is REALLY sick with pancreatic cancer.

10.Major League

A guilty pleasure for me, because I saw it when I was young and loved it.

9.Bang the Drum Slowly

“Brian’s Song,” for baseball. With Michael Moriarty as the star pitcher and Robert DeNiro as the dying catcher- which helped launch both careers. A truly touching film.

8.A League of Their Own

A great crowd pleaser and an important part of baseball history. It also gets extra credit for adding the line “There’s no crying in baseball” to the vernacular.

7.The Natural

Too sentimental a view of a slugger and the game for some, but it works for me. Based on the novel by Bernard Malamud and starring Robert Redford.

6.The Bad News Bears

The best baseball comedy, the perfect picture of Little League. Walter Matthau and Tatum O’Neal were perfect in their roles, and all of the foul-mouthed kids fit together beautifully.

5.The Rookie
The touching true story of Jim Morris (played very well by Dennis Quaid) who at the age of 35 realized his childhood dream of pitching in the Major Leagues. A very inspirational story and great family movie

4. Eight Men Out

John Sayles wrote and directed this movie, based on a book by Eliot Asinof, and does a great job of bringing the story’s complexity to the screen. A great cast lends well to a classic true story.

3.Pride of the Yankees

True story of New York Yankee Lou Gehrig who died too young after contracting Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis now known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.A real tear-jerker. You don’t have to be a Yankee fan to like this one.

2. Field of Dreams

Kevin Costner and company are great in this adaptation of W.P. Kinsella’s novel “Shoeless Joe.” It seems that everyone latches on to something different as their favorite part or as the message of the film. Like the game itself, this is a simple movie that also manages to be wonderfully complex.

1. Bull Durham

One thing about Kevin Costner, he sure gets the baseball movies right. He plays Crash Davis, a career minor leaguer sent to the Carolina League to teach golden boy Nuke LaLoosh (in a great performance by Tim Robbins) how to act like a ball player. Susan Sarandon plays love interest Annie Savoy.

Days of Thunder is a NASCAR car racing drama film that cam out in 1990. It stars Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, Cary Elwes and Michael Rooker. The film also features appearances by real life racers, such as Rusty Wallace and Neil Bonnett.
Days of Thunder revolves around a talented but cocky racing rookie, Cole Trickle (Cruise), who, after trying his hand in the American open wheel ranks, seeks to win on the NASCAR circuit. His mentor, Harry Hogge (Duvall), acts as his crew chief and Dr. Claire Lewicki (Kidman) is a young brain surgeon who tries to tame the out-of-control Trickle.
